Dive into Alabama's Ancient Underwater Forest
Friday, August 8 | 2:00 PM
Foley Public Library

Join us for a fascinating presentation with Dr. Kristine DeLong, professor in LSU’s Department of Geology and Anthropology, as she uncovers the story of Alabama’s ancient underwater forest. Discovered just off the Gulf Coast, this prehistoric cypress forest was buried for over 60,000 years before being revealed by Hurricane Ivan in 2004. Learn how this rare and remarkable site is helping scientists understand past climates, sea level changes, and what it can tell us about the future.

This event is free and open to the public—don’t miss this unique look beneath the waves into Alabama’s distant past!

Registration is encouraged.
